In June 2014 the INTO China staff teamed up with the Free Lunch for Children fund to help provide lunches for school children living in poverty stricken areas of China.

Many children in China receive only two meals, and often just one, a day, reducing their capacity to concentrate and learn in class resulting in poor progress at school.  It is not unusual for some children to have a two hour walk to school and then have no lunch, further reducing their ability to learn.

“Children who go to school hungry are more likely to have poor classroom behavior and low academic achievement. Effective school feeding programs can improve both education and health outcomes."
