INTO Newcastle show their support for West End Food Bank

INTO Newcastle staff and students have been doing a fantastic job getting involved and showing their support for some of the most vulnerable members of their community.

By setting up brilliantly successful bake sales and donation points, they have raised a superb £200 that will be topped up by 20% in the iGive scheme (plus 25% GiftAid) meaning the West End Food Bank Newcastle will receive £290 from INTO Giving!

And don’t forget the ever-brilliant match funding from our Chairman, where the original amount raised (£200) will also be donated towards INTO Giving education projects across the globe.

In supporting West End Food Bank, INTO Newcastle have helped provide invaluable services at one of the busiest food banks in the UK. Here, food parcels for 30,000 people are distributed annually, alongside social support for the fundamental issues that brought them to the Food Bank in the first place.

The West End Food Bank Newcastle website states that “the west end of Newcastle is one of the most economically and socially deprived areas in the North East” and where the demand is ever growing, West End Food Bank Newcastle is also connecting with “specialist agencies to help people overcome the often complex underlying problems that have led to them needing the foodbank, such as: household debt, worklessness, risk of homelessness, addiction and not claiming full benefit entitlements.”

Since opening in 2013, West End Food Bank Newcastle has provided 38,881, three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis, and functions as part of a nationwide network of food banks operated by The Trussell Trust across the UK.

By bringing everyone together to donate to a great cause, INTO Newcastle have helped West End Food Bank Newcastle to respond to a sadly, growing need for these services in our communities.

Hopefully by bringing focus onto such an important and incredible cause will help even further in eradicating the need for such facilities.
